First Lady Margareta Timofti participated in the Conference on the results of the Copiii Moldovei citesc o carte National Campaign (Moldova’s children read a book), held at the Ion Creanga National Library for Children on 20 December.
The campaign, which is at its second edition, is carried out under the patronage of the First Lady and aims at promoting reading among young people.
All Moldovan public libraries’ readers were involved in the cultural action. The book proposed for reading this year was the short stories volume entitled “Nu va indragostiti primavara” (Do not fall in love in the spring), signed by writer Nicolae Dabija, present at the event.
In her speech, Margareta Timofti thanked the writers for the meetings they organised with the students. "These are true celebrations of the soul, where young people learn the pleasure of reading," said the First Lady.
On the eve of the holiday season, the First Lady wished the students happy holidays and success at school.
The students performed skits from the stories read during the campaign, sang songs to the lyrics of poet Nicolae Dabija and carolled.
Academician Mihai Cimpoi, writers Nicolae Dabija, Aurelian Silvestru, Iulian Filip and Ianos Turcanu as well as students from several Moldovan schools attended the conference.
